Yield and taste related components variation in new superior bred strawberry genotypes and commercial cultivars during the wide harvest season

As a result of the hybridization ?Sevgi? and ?Ka?ka? cultivars with ?Fortuna? cultivar, which are bred within Cukurova University, superior characteristic strawberry genotypes codes ?33?, ?36? ?61? were selected. In this study, these three commonly grown in Mediterranean region compared terms yield, fruit size taste determining parameters (sugar organic acids) at different harvest date monthly under climate condition. The highest yield was measured generally April, while genotype-dependent varied between 628.9 g / plant (?36?) 951.5 (?Fortuna?). Besides, average weight (6.8 - 23.9 g) during season depending on genotype. sucrose content 0.06 100 4.83 g, ascorbic acid showed huge variation genotype 1.5 mg kg 393.8 mg/kg values. Generally, 33-advanced selection attracted attention its relatively high glucose, fructose, content. result, environmental conditions quite determinant observed cultivation. Furthermore, biotechnological methods could be utilized to shorten breeding time classical crossbreeds improve deficiencies genotypes.
